The goal
Mahjong Solitaire is a tile-matching puzzle. The whole board is built from pairs — remove every tile to win. You don't play against anyone; the only opponent is getting stuck. On JongGames you can even draw the board shape yourself: sketch any outline with mouse, finger or stylus and the tiles fill it, with every deal verified to have at least one solution.
How to play (3 steps)
- Pick or draw a board. Choose from Turtle, Butterfly, Castle, Star — or hit ✏ Draw and sketch your own shape.
- Match free tiles. A tile is "free" when nothing sits on top of it and its left or right side is open. Click two matching free tiles to remove them. The selected tile lifts so you can see what you've got.
- Clear the board to win. Stuck? 💡 Hint flashes a pair you can remove right now. Wrong move? ↩ Undo takes it back. Beat your best time for each board (⚙ Settings → Best Times).
American Mahjong tiles on JongGames
We use the full 152-tile American Mahjong deck: Dots, Bams and Craks (1–9), the four Winds (E/S/W/N), the three Dragons, eight Jokers — the signature of American Mahjong — plus Flowers and Seasons. Can I really draw my own Mahjong board?
Yes. Open the Draw tool, sketch any shape with mouse, finger or stylus, and the tiles automatically arrange themselves inside your drawing. Odd shapes are auto-corrected and every layout is verified solvable.

What tiles are used?
A 152-tile American Mahjong deck: Dots, Bams and Craks 1–9, four Winds, three Dragons, eight Jokers, plus Flowers and Seasons. Any two Jokers match each other, as do Flowers and Seasons.
How do I know a tile can be removed?
A tile is free when nothing rests on top of it and at least one side (left or right) is open. Match two identical free tiles to remove them. Use the Hint button if you get stuck.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes. The board supports pinch-zoom and drag, and drawing works with a finger or stylus on any modern browser.
What does "Solvable" mean?
The optional Solvable mode deals tiles by reverse construction: the computer dismantles the board pair-by-pair first, so the game you receive always has at least one winning path.
